Back to the Beach

We are back at the beach this week! I was a little nervous heading back because of the difficulties our last trip. Hunter had been sleeping well leading up to the trip so I had hopes that he would continue to sleep well when we got to the beach. We had learned a few things from our prior trip, one- we would be driving the whole way in one day and two- Hunter would get a room to himself!

The drive to the beach went smoothly. The kids did really well. Hunter took a few naps and we stopped for lunch. There was a Bass Pro shop in the same area so we stretched our legs there first. Hunter did a bee-line for the fish tank! We also left with a new tent!

There were a couple other stops along the way but made it to Nags Head just after 4:00. Roughly 8-8 1/2 hours from when we left. The Seth's were already there when we arrived and the cousins had fun exploring the house. Luckily Hunter has become very proficient with steps! I had forgotten the house had one more room than the house we had last year. Hunter had the bottom floor room all to himself. We started out with Hannah in the same room as Willow and Owen but in the middle of the first night ended up getting moved to a room of her own. She had been woken up by Hunter falling out of his pack-n-play! He had woken up and had been standing up crying and evidently had tossed out his pillow and bear and had been reaching for them. I saw him go over and rushed down to get him. He just wanted back in and proceeded to lay down and go back to sleep. Luckily, Hunter has slept very well for the past few nights and generally has not gotten up before 6 which has also been nice.

Sunday was a beautiful day so we headed down to the beach. All of the kids love the beach! They were out there for a few hours and were reluctant to come in for lunch! They house we are in is not on the beach but right across the road. We also have a pool in the cul-de-sac which is another nice water option.
Hannah loves the beach and water. So much to do!

After nap on Sunday we headed back to the beach. The tide was coming in so the water was a bit higher.

Monday again was a beautiful day so back to the beach we went. There was a family who had a dog who was very friendly and enjoyed the kids throwing the ball into the water so he could chase it down. They also had a kite which they let us borrow for a little while.

Monday afternoon we headed to Jeannette Pier and then to a park nearby. It was pretty windy and the kids were able to see someone reel in a stingray they had accidentally caught!

Tuesday morning we got Duck Donuts! You can not come to Nags Head and not get Duck Donuts. Hannah wanted a pink donut with sprinkles. There was a fun extra big chair we had to check out.

They are pretty excited about the doughnuts!

We headed to a new park in the morning and then we went to the pool. That afternoon we were back at the beach.

Wednesday was cloudy, windy and a few sprinkles so we headed to Jockey Ridge State Park where there is a sand dune. It was fun to walk out on the sand. The kids did a great job walking and running around. The sand was very soft and cool. On a sunny hot day, you would have to be really careful and wear shoes or you would burn your feet! Glad we had a cloudy cooler day to go a visit.

We then headed to Bodie Island Lighthouse.

This afternoon we let the kids watch a movie. It was a nice relaxing afternoon and the kids did a good job watching the movie for the most part. Hunter is not one to sit still so after a while he was up and walking around but he did a good job. Hannah also gets a little stir crazy but really enjoys the movie Moana.

Hunter was also in the mood to be giving kisses the other day. He is so cute! He kept coming back for more.
